Misty Hollow Extreme Adventures Why Us?
Alabama’s state slogan is “Alabama the beautiful”, and they wern’t kidding. You will discover some of Alabama’s hidden treasures. The landscape and waterways are some of the most beautiful and pristine in the south. Adventure is around every corner. “Alabama is the home of adventure lovers. With endless river ways, 22 million acres of forests, and topographic shifts from Gulf beaches to Appalachian cliffs, it is home to a diverse wildlife population that includes 414 bird species. All of this is just part of what makes Alabama a natural choice for outdoor adventure. And with more choices like hiking, rock climbing, biking, fishing and bird watching, you may have trouble knowing where to start” (The year of Outdoor Alabama). Alabama is rich in Indian history and at Misty Hollow X-treme Adventures, you can step back in time while exploring; possibly find an original artifact left by Indian natives several hundred years ago. There are three know Indian shelters found at Misty Hollow, two corn grinds, as well as other pieces of weaponry , and other traditions of a time all but forgotten. We will utilize the tools of survival of these early Native Americans to enrich our outdoor experience. Tracking, identifying, craft making, hunting techniques, shelter building, natural awareness, and respect for all creatures and their habitats will be on the agenda. Trips to the William Bankhead National Forest, and the Sipsey River to name a few are just a leg of the adventure in which you will gain a new appreciation as to how graceful, yet awe-inspiring Mother Nature’s house is. From above the horizon to deep in the heart of the earth, you will be reminded of how God has blessed us to be able to live within such splendor. Why Choose Misty Hollow Adventure Camp? No other program offers as many different activities through the week. Misty Hollow Adventure Camps are a great way for teens new to the outdoors to explore a wide variety of activities in a safe environment. While our programs are not inexpensive, we work hard to provide outstanding value for your hard earned dollars. We take your investment seriously and provide the best instructors, great food, trustworthy transportation, and great specialty guides. We have strict limits on participants and provide a very low instructor to student ratio in the industry. We are also priced more reasonably than other quality programs. We strive to pass along leadership qualities and give you the best possible return on your investment. Campers will arrive eager to participate in activities, and take on challenges willingly. We help ensure a successful experience by taking the time to match each student with the most appropriate adventure considering age and challenge level. When motivated students are teamed with excellent counselors and guides in a positive community, they make long-lasting friendships, learn valuable skills, and have the time of their lives while reaching goals they never thought possible. Campers thrive through team work, and grow a new appreciation for our land, natures’ animals and the environment in which they live. Family Camp Night Family Camp Night is an invitation to those campers and their families who have paid and registered for any session of Misty Hollow Adventure Camp. Adults, here’s your opportunity to enjoy camp activities as well. Families may bring their own tent or may rent a tent from Misty Hollow Extreme Adventures, for a very reasonable fee. We will have a bonfire, barbecue roast with all the fixin’s, and some activities set up for your families to do together as well as some fun awards & ceremonies from camp week. Campers must camp under the supervision of their parent(s) or guardian(s). We will provide dinner for the enrolled camper and dinner tickets will be available for purchase for $15.00 per adult and child over 5 years of age. Dates will be posted. |
